little catcher
Cade has shown quite a bit of interest in the catcher during the Astros games lately. Apparently he is quite observant because he started wearing his hat backwards with his football helmet over it. It confused me for awhile until I realized he was trying to be the catcher. Today was a new addition. He came in with his football shoulder pads on turned so it could be like the pad they wear on their chest! What a clever little kid!

puddle jumping
We went up to the church tonight to hang out with all the guys up there cooking barbecue for the church-wide picnic tomorrow. It has been very stormy yesterday and today so the ground was soaked. When we first got there Cade flipped out when his boots and soccer ball got wet. I finally convinced him that it was ok for the soccer ball to get wet and he started playing with a friend. He accidentally fell down and got his shirt wet and was quite upset about that. (Are you getting the pattern that Cade HATES being dirty??) Again, I convinced him that it was ok....we will go home and get a bath and it is just fine to get dirty. Well, dirty he got....and VERY wet.
Here is the progression of the puddle jumping.
He started jumping in the little ditch with a few friends.....

the last month in pictures
The last month is pretty much a blur. It's a good thing I took pictures because I don't think I would remember anything if I hadn't. Life is hectic around here and will likely be crazy for the next few months. Crazy or not, life goes on. We are still potty training Cade. He is doing really, really well. He still has accidents here and there, but nothing like I expected.
Here are a few pictures to let you know what we have been up to.
Reid will pick up any phone, well anything that resembles a phone and pretend to talk. He says "hello.....bye". He is sitting in TJ's bumbo like chair here. He loves sitting in that thing.
Tessa and Taleigh came in town for a few days during their spring break.

Reid learned how to blow spit bubbles. Nice, huh? He thinks he's pretty cool when he does it.

Reid "helped" Pa fix the lights outside. He loves his Pa.

Tiffany came into town for her spring break.

Reid started walking. We were at church and he started standing from the crawling position and then just took a few steps. The next day we were at home and he walked across the living room to me. Cade got so excited and said "Reid's walking!!!" We were both so happy for him that he got so excited and kept falling down when he tried to walk! He still crawls quite a bit because it's faster, but he is walking more and more.

Cade continues to be a basketball playing fool. He slam dunks with 1 hand and can make it from a pretty far distance on his little goal. He loves going to our next door neighbors house with Matt to play basketball on their goal. He tries very hard to dribble, but it somehow always hits his foot! Reid has now taken an interest in basketball and says, "basket" and "basketball". Matt holds him up to the neighbors goal and he actually gets the ball in the basket!

Reid still climbs on everything. I don't know how many times I have caught him at the top of my parents stairs. He is so fast!

Walking to mom!

The 4 of us went to the park on a windy evening to fly a kite.

I am so glad Cade has started doing a real smile when I take his picture. No more cheesy smile, for now at least!

Reid had fun watching from the stroller.

Mickey and Minnie flying high

Cade liked holding the kite....except when he let go and it went over the power lines into a tree. Yeah to Matt for getting it out!

Cade got to go to his friend, Kai's birthday party. (He also went to Molly's, but I didn't have my camera) He had fun playing with play-do. I need to get brave and pull ours out one day.

Kai had a fire truck come to his birthday party! They taught the boys and girls about fire safety and then let them get on the truck!

Reid was the driver.

Reid had a fun time at the party because there were toys he could climb on.

And because of the little boat. There is a little boat similar to this in his class at church. He is always in it when I go to pick him up. I think he just likes the wheel.

We had a fun little party for the Astros opening night. We had a fun (for the kids at least) dinner

and then cheered on the Astros. Cade had to get his ball and glove to watch the game. He did the same thing last year.

Cade (all on his own) decided to pitch the ball to Matt. Nice leg kick, huh? If only it was the correct leg!

We had a good Easter. Cade had an Easter egg hunt at school. (in the picture below) They also got lots of goodies in their Easter basket from us and at Mimi and Pa's house. Cade told everyone why we celebrate Easter...."Jesus is alive!" Reid was still getting over a little virus so we didn't get to make it to church. :(

We went out to Chappell Hill with the Colwells to take bluebonnet pictures.

Poor Madison had to sit through another photo shoot where we tried to get all the grand kids to smile at the camera. They never all smiled, but sweet Madison did the whole time. She is so understanding!

The bluebonnets were so pretty this year

Lastly, my brother TJ had surgery today. :( He had a tendon release in both legs. Poor guy is casted all the way up his legs and can't even sit in his wheelchair. They had to get an ambulance to take him home today since he couldn't get in the van. It's going to be a rough 3 weeks for the poor guy. Hopefully his new friends vallium and vicodin will make it a bit easier.

Cade was very worried about TJ and kept going into his room to check on him. He kept saying, "it's ok buddy" because TJ was quite uncomfortable. One time I couldn't find Cade and this is where he was. Dr. Cade was being so helpful checking on TJ. If you look closely he even has a blood pressure cuff on his arm!

Whew....what a month! Hopefully I will be a little better about updates in the future! Oh----I just realized I forgot to put our pictures with all the grand kids in their Easter outfits. I'll put them on soon.
